In this procedure using your own blood and having no general anesthetic required with PRP, there is a short recovery and low risk, yet natural looking results.
Results are generally visible at 4 weeks and continue to improve gradually over ensuing months (3-6) with improvement in texture and tone. Current data shows results may last 18-24 months. Advanced wrinkling cannot be reversed and severe scarring may not respond. Avoiding drug, alcohol, and tobacco usage will maximize benefits of PRP.
Generally 3-6 treatments are advised, however, more may be necessary for some individuals. Touch up treatments may be done once a year after the initial series of treatments to boost and maintain the results. After treatment, you may experience swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the site of treatment. This will typically last for less than a week. The use of Tylenol (acetaminophen) is permitted. Be careful to guard against infection by keeping the skin clean, especially in the first 48 hours. Avoid excessive rubbing or manipulation of the skin. Blood thinners, anti-inflammatory medications, alcohol, and heavy exercise are permitted only after 24 hours.
