Let’s fight acne together, shall we?! 🥊

Today’s blog, I’m spotlighting the best treatments to look for in your acne-fighting journey. ⁣Did you know that 80% of moderate to severe acne sufferers have missed over 10 important life events due to acne and we think that’s 80% too many.⁣ Find out how you can manage acne, keep your pores clear, decrease oil and minimise inflammation. Find out how you can go fresh faced and filter free this summer!

What causes Acne?

I’m tackling the “WHY” behind this condition that affects SO many of us. Acne is caused by hormones that fuel the oil glands to produce more oil. If you don’t wash your face or sweat without cleansing afterwards - Oil + dirt + dead skin + acnes + sweat = enlarged pores = inflammation = acne!

Especially for women, acne may be triggered by hormonal changes. As we get older, our estrogen levels often decline. At the same time, male hormones increase, like testosterone and dihydrotestosterone, which we all have. Because our bodies have fewer female hormones to suppress the effects of the male hormones, the effects of those hormones become more evident. You may see an increase in oil production and pores may look larger, leading to clogged pores and more acne.

What In-Home Care Looks Like?

1. Moisturize

Let’s face it, if you’re like me, you have probably used every good moisturizer available so you’re rolling your eyes heavily at this cliché. But if you have dry, itchy skin, your skin care routine should focus on retaining moisture.

The secret is to use a moisturizer that does not further disrupt the natural lipid skin barrier. I’d suggest you cleanse your skin with a gentle, soap-free cleanser that won’t wash away healthy oils, then moisturize with a cream or ointment as often as you can.

2. Avoid extremes of temperatures

Sensitive skin is more prone to inflammation in extreme temperatures. If you are really committed to protecting your skin, you’ll have to keep away from exposure to extreme sunlight or other extreme weather conditions that cause your skin to react sensitively.

3. Live a healthy lifestyle

Regular visits to the gym is not the only way to live a healthy lifestyle. You need to also shun vices and eat right. If you have sensitive skin, identifying foods and supplements that trigger your allergy is a great way to control the negative effects on your skin.

4. Relax! Your skin needs it

Treatments For You

UP FIRST - our favourite advanced in-clinic treatments.
Jet Peel + Exosome Facial

Jet peels may help you treat and prevent acne by deep-cleaning your pores and exfoliating your skin. Exosome facials help to stimulate collagen production by delivering growth factors directly to the skin, resulting in a more youthful and vibrant complexion.
When combined with a JetPeel facial, the benefits of an exosome facial are amplified. JetPeel facials use a high-pressure jet stream to deliver a custom blend of skin-nourishing ingredients, such as vitamins and antioxidants, directly to the skin.

Minimum of 4 treatments, one month apart are recommended in order to see results. This depends on your personal goals and your skincare concerns. Schedule your consultation today to begin the process of facial rejuvenation!

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels improve the appearance of acne scars by using a chemical solution to remove the outer layer of old skin. At Victoria Rose Aesthetics, our chemical peels help accelerate skin exfoliation to promote subsequent regeneration of the epidermis and dermis. The outer layers of the skin will peel off, giving way to a renewed skin, more luminous and with fewer imperfections. The new skin that replaces it is usually smoother and less scarred in appearance.

Try these game changing peels to enhance the feel and texture of your skin, and give a boost in a short amount of time, with minimal discomfort!

Beauty Booster Microneedling

Microneedling with PRP or Skin Boosters like Redensity I is a medical aesthetic treatment used to treat skin health by stimulating the fibroblasts in the superficial dermis to produce collagen & elastin. This procedure is often recommended to improve fine lines, skin texture, glow, hydration, pores and acne scars. This treatment can either be done with PRP or with a Skin Booster (cocktail of hyaluronic acid + vitamins, minerals & antioxidants).
