Before Treatment

Our initial step involves a one-on-one discussion and consultation with our experienced practitioners who will carefully assess your individual needs, concerns, and goals. This consultation is a crucial phase where we listen to your desires, review your health history, evaluate your facial dynamics, and address any questions or uncertainties you may have about the Botox procedure. Our aim is to create a customized treatment plan tailored specifically to enhance your natural beauty and achieve the results you desire.

During Treatment

When treated with Botox/Nuceiva, a tiny amount of the neuromodulator product is injected into one or more of the dozens of muscles that control facial expression. The Botox/Nuceiva works to relax the muscles by blocking the nerve impulse from reaching that specific area, causing the muscle to relax and the wrinkles to fade.

After Treatment

After treatment, you may experience swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site. This will typically last for a couple of hours. The use of Tylenol (acetaminophen) is permitted. Additionally, although rare, red or swollen small bumps may occur for 2-3 days. If needed, you may apply makeup after 6 hours of treatment, using very minimal pressure on your skin.

Botox Aftercare

You can maximize and protect your Botox results by remaining upright (no laying down or bending over) and avoid rubbing/touching your face for a minimum of 4 hours. For 24 hours after treatment, refrain from strenuous physical activity, hot tubs/sauna, facials, alcohol, aspirin, or other over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications or supplements. In addition, research shows that taking a daily zinc supplement can help to extend the duration of your Botox results.

Follow up Treatment

We would love to see you for a two week follow up assessment especially if this is your first Botox/Nuceiva treatment with us. This will ensure that we are able to see how your facial muscles react to your treatment. For medical reasons, your results will be photographed and documented in your confidential patient file.

When comparing Botox with similar treatments like Nuceiva, Dysport and Xeomin, it’s crucial to understand the key differences. Each of these injectables contains botulinum toxin type A, but they vary in terms of formulation, diffusion, and onset of action. Botox, Nuceiva, Dysport and Xeomin are currently the only 4 brands of Botulinum Toxin.

Botox

Nuceiva

Nuceiva has the advantage of being the 4th and most recent anti-wrinkle botulinum toxin type A injectable treatment available and approved for use in Canada. The advantage that Nuceiva has over the other brands is that it takes the best traits from Botox, Dysport and Xeomin and adds it all into one vial: Nuceiva. Nuceiva has the same core molecular structure as Botox (900kDA), and the same precision which allows for more predictable outcomes.

Nuceiva also has a quicker onset similar to Dysport (it actually kicks in faster than Dysport… as early as 48 hours!), unlike Dysport which requires 5 days and Botox which requires 10-14 days. Nuceiva is also now one of the top recommendations for individuals experiencing resistance to botox, due to developing antibodies, similar to Xeomin.

Dysport

Dysport is known for its quicker onset, spreading more widely, having a “softer finish” compared to Botox, making it an excellent choice for larger treatment areas.
